Working Towards a Better Way of Life

Would you like to know what I’m doing on our homestead as we work towards a better way of life?

Two years ago, I personally took a detour from our homestead living to help my youngest son pursue a new path for his betterment in our mountain home location.

Last year, while I hoped to be more present on the homestead, circumstances dictated a different course for me.

This year, I expect to be back on the homestead on a more full-time basis, and I’m looking forward to it.

My husband has been holding down the fort here, so to speak, solo, for the better part of this past year. But now that I’m in a position to slip back into my role of being “the woman of the house” again, I’m raring to go.

To hold myself accountable and stay on track with all that I need & want to accomplish here, I hope to record snippets of my efforts on this blog going forward.

Specifically, I intend on writing about:

• Getting (& keeping) our house & surrounding property in order, which includes:
  • Managing our food production, preparation, preservation, acquisition & storage again.
  • Managing our energy conservation, production & storage.
  • Managing & assisting my husband in other non-commercial industrial endeavors.
  • Managing & assisting my husband in our commercial endeavors & affairs.
  • Managing our social affairs.
• Serving our local community & personal network of trusted friends & acquaintances.
• Engaging in private, peer-to-peer exchanges.
• Learning how to do all of the above in a more effective & efficient manner.
• Resting in the evenings & on the seventh day of the week.

For the past two years, I took advantage of the rare opportunity to pursue & explore my personal interests on a grander scale. I expect to weave many of those interests into this better way of life we are pursuing. (I’ve already begun to do so.)

Personally, I’ve grown weary of living the “all work and no play” lifestyle. And I’d like to help my husband have more time & energy to pursue his personal interests as well. So, I expect I may write a bit about that in the coming days, too.
