Return to Print Publications
I was happy to read today that 2.9 Billion People are Still Offline. (Of course, I had to see that tidbit online because that’s the only way I’ve been able to get news regarding world events these days.)
But thankfully, I discovered Freedom’s Phoenix last week, which is an online news & information center, where I recently subscribed to having its daily headlines emailed to me.
I subscribed after learning that I could purchase bulk print copies of their latest 40-page issue of the Freedom’s Phoenix newspaper to distribute to friends & interested parties.
I came to discover this deal from James Corbett’s “Make Your Own Newspaper – #SolutionsWatch” video at The Corbett Report, which is my favorite independent news source of late. If you’re unfamiliar with James’ work, I highly recommend him.
This particular subject thrills me because I’m a huge fan of print media, particularly when it involves quality, meaningful content. (I look forward to its return. Yes, I believe it is going to come back in vogue — at least in the free world, it will.)
What thrills me most about this is that Ernie Hancock has made the template he used in publishing his newspaper freely available for anyone to download off his website so people like me can use it to publish our own paper!
This is awesome. I’ve never published a full-blown newspaper on newsprint paper before — I’d have to look into how to go about doing that to see if it’s something feasible for me to pursue.
However, I have published regular 4–6-page newsletters on regular 11″ x 17″ copy paper before for various purposes, and I plan to get back into doing that in the new year. Stay tuned to learn more about that endeavor.
In the meantime, check out James Corbett’s video, and let me know what you think.
