A Quiet Revolution
Let’s face it. [Keeping It Real] Most of us were raised in an environment where our housing, utilities, food, energy, transportation, healthcare & communications were all provided for us in exchange for money. Very few of us, I think, inherited our housing. (I didn’t.) We more than likely had to acquire it with money. And then we all have to keep paying money to keep it. While some have their own well water & septic systems, most rely on municipalities for these services in exchange for money. And most buy the majority of their food and pay for electricity and/or gas/oil to power & heat their homes. And this is…

Creating a Domain in the Real World
In recent years the Powers-That-Shouldn’t-Be in this world have been shoving us all into the virtual realm, whether we like it or not. And frankly, I don’t like it. I was already quite a bit behind the times, technologically speaking –– as I’m typing this post on a hard-wired desktop computer hooked up to a printer/copier/fax machine that’s nearly two decades old. (And my wired landline telephone is stationed just around the corner, with another extension linked to an answering machine.) While I was on the cutting edge of web-design-from-scratch and the blogosphere nearly twenty years ago, I have failed miserably at keeping up with the latest & greatest of…

Waving through a Window
Last year I came across the movie musical, Dear Evan Hansen, at a local public library and checked it out. Ever hear of it? Google describes the movie as follows: Evan Hansen is an anxious, isolated high-school student who’s aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social media age. He soon embarks on a journey of self-discovery when a letter he wrote for a writing exercise falls into the hands of a grieving couple whose son took his own life. Google search result Oh.my.goodness.

Freedom Scorecard
I came across this snazzy little tool presented by Tag at LifeDoneFree, which he calls a UGS Calculator. (“UGS” stands for “UnGovernable Score”.) Basically, it’s a gauge to determine how free you are based on what you deem is needed to be free. For a while now, I’ve been trying to keep tabs on taking care of our First- Things-First needs, and thensome, to get as free as we can be. And I really like how Tag has put this spreadsheet together to help monitor one’s progress on achieving freedom in the many aspects of our lives.

Longing for Community
For many years we have longed for community. However, we weren’t interested in just any kind of community, because we’ve seen (& been a part of) a variety of communities over our lifetime that have left us feeling empty & stagnant. For us, given our concern for what we see going on around us & our passionate vision for the future (particularly for our kids!), we have desired to develop relationships with folks who are dedicated to actively cooperating their way out of the System. And then, naturally, we’d like to cooperate with them to achieve that in our own respective little worlds. So, beyond simply meeting & knowing people…

Scrolling Without Comment
I saw a meme this morning that someone shared on Facebook which read: “I saw a post I didn’t agree with. -I chose not to get offended. -I chose not to change their mind. -I chose not to comment. -I still like the person. I just kept scrolling and went on with my day.” – Dr, Shawne.com I realize the intent of this post was likely to point out the idea that it is possible to still like someone who posts something we don’t agree with. But when I read it, I homed in on the part that said, “I chose not to change their mind. – I chose not…

Return to Print Publications
I was happy to read today that 2.9 Billion People are Still Offline. (Of course, I had to see that tidbit online because that’s the only way I’ve been able to get news regarding world events these days.)

Finally Answering the Call
I’ve been debating back and forth with myself over the past year as to how to best carry out my calling at this moment in time, particularly as it relates to this website. It seems the phone has been ringing for a while now, and I feel a sense of urgency welling up within me to answer it already. I believe those who have wakened in the last year (2020-2021) either to the wicked agenda of the powers-that-be, or to the realization that the powers-that-be shouldn’t even be, are likely going to need a bit of direction going forward. And, I believe, there are those who may have already been awake…

Our Greenhouse Patio
This year, we made great strides in remodeling the large greenhouse attached to our poultry house. While it is still under construction, with plans to create & use an aquaponic system in it, my husband thought a small patio area within it as well would make a nice respite, particularly in the winter months. And so far it has served us well. 🙂 With temperatures in the 40s and low 50s outside… We are able to enjoy some leisure while soaking in the sun and enjoying some free heat. What a blessing! We look forward to getting a lot of use out of our new outdoor, indoor living space. 🙂

Why We Do What We Do
Yesterday on Facebook, my husband posted the following: I know very few free range humans. Instead, most are very domesticated humans. If you live in the city your environment is not free range but you may meet the USDA criteria for “cage free”. TyWiggle I thought that was pretty clever. To that he received the following response from a friend of ours, who stayed with us for a few months in 2016: …you are also a slave to your work. Like you barely spend any time with your family and you are a workaholic. At least you were when I lived with you. You may be free in some ways…
