Sharing What I Know About the Bible
Two & a half months ago, I shared about an adjustment we recently made in our family dynamic. And as usual, we’re always having to remain flexible.
Given the harsh pre-winter weather, I ended up spending more time in the mountains in December than I had originally intended.
While that put a pause on my endeavors at the homestead, it enabled me to complete two writing projects that were on my Fall To-do List.
Two Bible-Related Writing Projects
Messyanic.com is a website of mine that focuses on the Biblical studies I have done over the past 15 years or so.
For several years that site sat dormant while I focused my attention, time & energy elsewhere. But then, a year ago, I started writing my first novel.
And the heart of the story I was seeking to tell led me into researching what other Bible-consuming people believed these days concerning the “end times”.
It naturally begged me to study particular references in the New Testament to “the last days” and to investigate the notion of the second coming of Jesus Christ.
And I of course, updated my Bible-related website, bit by bit, with whatever I discovered.
Then, this past fall, knowing that I would be travelling between the mountains (which I have deemed my personal writing retreat) and the homestead, I decided to pursue two specific writing projects before delving back into my novel-writing.
My Personal Statement of Bible-Related Faith
Because my position concerning the Bible & its contents had changed so drastically over the years, I felt it necessary to update those who had followed my work with my current state of mind on the matter.
So, I published a seven-part Substack series on my personal Statement of Faith as it related to the Bible.
And I distributed the series to my current Messyanic subscribers. If you’re interested in knowing my personal position on the Bible (& its contents, generally speaking), please check it out here.
My Biblical Case Against a Religious Doctrine
At the same time, I started working on another writing project I had begun in 2017 & more-or-less abandoned in 2020.
The subject matter was (and remains) very controversial in religious circles.
However, I believe a proper understanding of what the Bible-at-large actually says concerning that fundamental tenet (vs what religious teachings & traditions preach & portray) is essential for anyone paying any attention to the Bible to grasp.
And given that my personal position concerning the subject is so unique, coupled with a robust offering of Biblical support I had to back up my position, I felt compelled to at least complete the project.
So, I published another seven-part Substack series, called Dismantling the Virgin Birth Doctrine.
While I don’t necessarily consider that particular writing a “finished” work, that project is completer & more refined than it was before. And I’m now content with letting it rest for a while.
If that subject matter is of interest to you, then please check out Messyanic.com to see what I have to say on there being no virgin birth in the Bible.
Because when it comes to learning, my personal mantra remains:
“Share/teach what you know. Learn what you want.”
